The Malpais Canopy Tour starts with transportation from the hotel with a 25 minute driving time. An exciting activity with an experienced guide and helper will take you safely through lush rainforests and views of the Pacific.  Total tour is approximately two hours.

These beaches are unique and offer incredible beauty with a combination of wide open areas to some offering rocky formations and adjoining tropical rainforest vegetation.

The excursions will last approximately two hours.

Offered at the Nantipa Hotel (located approximately 10 minutes from the hotel). Enjoy a state-of-the-art facility with a seasoned yoga and meditation instructor. Class lasts one hour and transportation is included.

Tour through the hills and mountains surrounding Santa Teresa in your own ATV. A guide will be provided, and last approximately four hours.

Lessons will be provided at Carmen Beach next to the hotel. A seasoned instructor will be present to provide guidance and maintain the group safe. The

lesson will last about one and a half hours.  While you’re there, the beach area around the hotel provides opportunities for great walks heading north to Santa Teresa Beach which is a 3 mile round trip, and heading south to the natural saltwater swimming pools that form during low tide in the Malpais beach some 300 yards from us.

As an extension to the Montezuma tour above, you can add a visit to Costa Rica’s first National Park.  It will add about one hour.

The park contains an open green area were historical accounts on how the park was founded in 1963 and led the way to making Costa Rica contain a large percentage of land designated as national parks and conservation areas (over 25% of the total land area of the country).  This park fronts expansive rocky sand and deep blue water as this is the very tip of the Nicoya peninsula.  Across the channel and in full view from the park sits the Capo Blanco Marine Conservation key which has never been visited by man.

Montezuma is a half an hour drive from our hotel. Once you arrive, you’ll be hiking for one mile below a canopied tree-covered and shaded trail and arrive at the first waterfalls and bathing holes in the river. After exploring the waterfalls, your driver will take you on a short ride to have traditional fresh fish lunch by the sea in historical Montezuma.

The entire excursion lasts around 4 hours.

Isla Tortuga sits in the middle of the Gulf of Nicoya and is reached using a 35 or 42 foot boat (depending on number of guests) fitted with twin-outboard engines.  The boat trip lasts about an hour in each direction.  The views are majestic, as the rugged coastline of the islands you are passing by drop almost vertically showing rainforest vegetation that covers the entire keys in the gulf, and streams that flow down and become waterfalls as they hit the ocean.

Before you arrive at Isla Tortuga, you will make a short stop on one of many isolated beaches located in conservation-designated small mountainous keys. On the way to lunch at the beach in Tortuga, you will snorkel a rocky key that creates amazing currents containing colorful fish.

In Isla Tortuga you will be surrounded by a white sand beach where you will enjoy lunch with locally prepared fish and Costa Rican side dishes.  The beach provides rentals of lounge chairs and offers a bar, Wi-Fi, proper bathroom areas and water sports activities are also available.

This is considered a full day tour as it’ll last approximately seven hours including transportation to the boat launch area.

Whale Watching Extension (Seasonal)

During the months of August and September, humpback whales migrate to the Gulf of Nicoya looking for warmer waters and low depths to teach their offspring to swim.
